Our Shared Ambition

Scotland should be the best place to learn. We want each child to enjoy an education that encourages them to be the best they can be and provides them will a full passport to future opportunity.

About the Raising Attainment for All Programme

We have a good system of education in Scotland and we are all working hard to make it great. However, we still have children and young people from disadvantaged backgrounds whose attainment and achievement is not what it should be. We all agree that there is an unacceptable gap in attainment and achievement between children from our most and least advantaged backgrounds. While the attainment of our most deprived young people is improving, it is not at a fast enough rate.

The Raising Attainment for All Programme was launched in June 2014, the programme aims to support consistent improvement in attainment and achievement through the development of a collaborative learning system which supports the implementation of improvement methodology and enables shared learning across the country.

The Programme has four Stretch Aims, these are:

  • Stretch Aim 1 To ensure that 85% of children with each school cluster have successfully experienced and achieved CfE second level Literacy, Numeracy, and Health and Wellbeing outcomes in preparation for Secondary School by 2016.
  • Stretch Aim 2 To ensure that 85% of children within each school cluster have successfully experienced and achieved CFE Third Level Literacy, Numeracy and Health and Wellbeing outcomes in preparation for the senior phase by 2019.
  • Stretch Aim 3 To ensure that 95% of young people within each school cluster go on to positive participation destinations on leaving school by 2018.
  • Stretch Aim 4 To provide the leadership for improvement both nationally and locally, across the Raising Attainment for All Programme.

National Learning Session 2

Following our successful launch event which took take place in June 2014 at the SECC in Glasgow and our Regional Improvement Learning Sessions held in September and December 2014, we are delighted to welcome you to the next National Learning Session for the Raising Attainment for All Programme.

This national event will welcome colleagues from across the country who have been engaged in improvement activity along with colleagues who represent partner organisations and first time attendees who are joining the programme in the coming weeks.

This event will give you the opportunity to share and learn from the experiences of colleagues from 12 local authorities and 150 schools as well as the opportunity to engage with colleagues who can help you with your improvement work.

The event programme provides a blend of plenary and breakout sessions that are interactive and enable the sharing of practical experience and improvement ideas while continuing to develop knowledge and skills for the application of improvement methodology.

National Learning Session 2 will take place once again in the Lomond Suite and Hall 5 of the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre (SECC), Glasgow.
